Simran grew up in West London and began at UCL in 2015 as a Chemistry undergraduate student. She joined the Davies group for the 2018/19 academic year to complete her Masters research project. Her research focusses on the use of the layer-by-layer method to build magnetic nanocomposites for use as MRI contrast agents.
Simran’s project will involve the combination of magnetic ferrite-based nanoparticles with polyelectrolyes to build magnetic nanocomposites using the layer-by-layer technique. The structure-property relationships of these nanocomposites will be probed to explore the potential for their use as negative contrast agents in magnetic resonance imaging.
