Alexander graduated from the University of Leicester in 2018, with the degree title MChem Chemistry with a Year Abroad. His fourth year project, titled “Design and Synthesis of a Lanthanide picolinate-based Chelate Molecularly Imprinter Polymer precursor” was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Mark Lowe. He studied in his third year as an exchange student at Kent State University, Ohio, where he also spent time in the second semester carrying out research.
